No you are right, but the ones that we had around when I was growing up in the 60s did not seem as stout, large or heavy as the typical example from today.

Yep that’s true—they’re a lot bigger now. I’m no skateboard expert but it seems like they had a transformation in the early to mid 1980s. It was like punctuated evolution where they were these fairly small things for a couple of decades and then all the sudden they grew. Current skateboards are long and massive, made of plywood and just about perfect as a swinging weapon. Antifa clearly realize this and have intelligently seized on skateboards as a “hidden in plain sight” weapon.
