My uncle was one of them. He fought in the Pacific during WWII. I remember a Sunday after-dinner conversation at his and my aunt’s house during which the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings came up. One of the women said how terrible they were. My uncle replied, “Well, they asked for it.” He never bought a Japanese-brand car, even after they began building them in the U.S.
