No, it is more than that. Some people are naturally good speakers, some can be trained, and others are hopeless. Somehow at the lower levels of government people who are poor speakers can be elected. They can sometimes appear to be good speakers when reading from a teleprompter or reciting a memorized stump speech. But you put them in a situation where they have to speak at a special event that is not all about them and they typically put everyone to sleep. I can't tell you how many times my wife and I have been at an event and the entire crowd was barely awake after sitting through several politicians. She gets up and is able to fire up a crowd speaking on basically any subject.

She has no special training, she is attractive even in her mid 60s and is just a magnificent speaker. I cannot tell you how many people have asked her how she learned to speak the way that she does. I do not think that she has the same impact when we are not in front of a live audience, she did a couple of “Zoom” video presentations this year and she did not like not having the feedback and being able to play off of it.
