The GOP governor who hosted Trump for an Independence Day celebration at Mount Rushmore earlier this summer said Wednesday the president needs to be re-elected because the alternative option would lead to violence and disorder. We have violence and disorder now (in Democrat led cities).
This is not Trumps fault. It is the fault of Governors, Sheriffs and Mayors of the cities, counties and states where it occurs.
The first responsibility for stopping these crimes rest with the local and state governments. Trump has recognized this and has principally used the Bully Pulpit to call on those responsible to do their duty.
But eventually he should use the Constitutional power he has to ensure to the states a republican government. Where there is chaos there is no government and the Feds can step in.
