I’m from Oregon. We rescinded our ratification of the 14th back in 1868, and many of the States who “ratified” ratified under duress. I’d hold that the prohibition is an ex post facto law, among other things, and if it turns out the Biden had fought for the Confederacy, and people insisted that because of this I can’t vote for him, I am just contrary enough that I might do so out of spite. Sic semper tyranus

If he fought for the CSA, then he isn’t as bad as I thought.

Biden isn't that old. I think the last genuine Confederate veteran died in the 1950s. Some years ago I heard a talk by a 97-year-old man whose father had ridden with Forrest--he was born when his father was getting up in years (second marriage).

The 14th amendment is a curious document. It is designed to try to force the Southern states to let black men vote while not penalizing Northern states which did not let black men vote.
