I’m from Oregon. We rescinded our ratification of the 14th back in 1868, and many of the States who “ratified” ratified under duress. I’d hold that the prohibition is an ex post facto law, among other things, and if it turns out the Biden had fought for the Confederacy, and people insisted that because of this I can’t vote for him, I am just contrary enough that I might do so out of spite. If he fought for the CSA, then he isn’t as bad as I thought.
The 14th amendment is a curious document. It is designed to try to force the Southern states to let black men vote while not penalizing Northern states which did not let black men vote.
