Democrats won't be replacing Biden before the election. The election will occur, and if Biden wins, his replacement will already have been chosen. Kamala is his replacement, and that's been the plan from the beginning.

In any case, not even Kamala would be running the presidency, since the DNC and a well-chosen set of socialist cabinet members would be running the government, along with the democrats in congress.
