Progressive groups are urging TV networks to delay airing parts of the GOP convention until they are able to fact-check the claims made by speakers.
The best way to combat the spread of disinformation is to stop it at its source. By putting the Republican National Convention on a one-minute time delay, your network will be able to actively correct disinformation in real time, and prevent the American people from being lied to on your airwaves, read the letter dated Monday, signed by nine progressive groups, including an EMILYs List PAC and Color of Change PAC. The future of our country, our people and our democracy is at stake.
Several major networks pulled away from speakers during the first night of the convention to fact-check claims made by speakers. CNN and MSNBC cut away from Patricia and Mark McCloskey, the couple that went viral after pointing guns at Black Lives Matter protestors outside their house in St. Louis.
The networks clarified a claim the couple made about Democrats wanting to abolish the suburbs by ending single-family home zoning.
CNN and the New York Times have running fact-checking pages on their digital platforms.
"I think it's important for objective journalists to note how wildly imbalanced the dishonesty is between the current parties. This one half-night of Republican programming so far has been exponentially more dishonest than the entire four nights of the Democratic convention," CNN fact-checker Daniel Dale tweeted.

This presumes we watched it on one of the alphabet networks.
I havent deliberately watched any network for news in years.
Everything we do is streaming, generally directly to the content source, unfiltered by a news editor.
IOW: Keep the truth from getting out!
The networks clarified a claim the couple made about Democrats wanting to abolish the suburbs by ending single-family home zoning.
An MSDNC commentator called the invasion of the McCloskeys' neighborhood a "parade". I don't think it was meant as sarcasm.
Parade? wow.
Parade? wow.
Right this minute my wife is reading the AP’s account of the first day of the Republican convention. It is in fact an editorial posing as a news article. An example: “Tim Scott, GOP’s only black Senator...” Would they refer to Cory Booker as the dem’s only black Senator? (Nope, when elected, AP counted Harris as Indian).
They then explain how Republicans distorted or lied about Biden’s positions, contrasted the “well-received” dem virtual roll call ‘with diverse delegates’ with the nearly all white Republican delegates who ‘flouted’ mask requirements. The headline did feature the word “dark”.
Are the Fact Checkers who covered the DNC Convention last week still available?

“It is still constitutional EVERYWHERE ELSE.”
Not really. A “frisk” is a search and courts have ruled time and time again that the government cannot perform a search without a warrant or probable cause. It’s not exactly a controversial point of the law.
That’s okay, we watch on GST.
Not really?
It is only controversial because the Supremes have not ruled on it. I don’t like it, but that does not overturn arrests or convictions.
When Diana Ross rules on it, Lester Holt will be right, maybe. As President Trump restated what I already knew...NYC did not support that technique their police used, so they failed to take it to a higher court and lost it. A low court ruling does not carry to higher courts. During the debate, Lester Holt, a moderator, stuck his wrong two cents in the debate. He was wrong, and PDJT got it right. Not much was said about that afterward. Candy Crowley did the same in a previous debate. They have an agenda and that is pretty much all I am commenting on, but if you like, I don’t like the predicate, but I know the technique to use it legally.
Thanks though.

Wonder wthe the MSDNC commentator would think if a raucous group of conservatives were to schedule a “parade” in his neighborhood?
Would it be cute and funny then, O media hypocrite?
It is way past time for these people to be repaid in kind.
This logo doesn’t even look American.
Is it just me or does this thing give off a threatening vibe?
It’s pure evil. The star is a rotated pentagram of sorts.

“It is only controversial because the Supremes have not ruled on it.”
But they’ve already ruled many times on the same exact question (whether police can perform a search without a warrant or probable cause) and have always ruled that it is unconstitutional. The only new thing here is calling the search a “frisk” instead of a “search”, which is just playing semantics. It doesn’t change the fact that the Supreme Court has already ruled several times that this is unconstitutional.
What kind of Truth detector was on the awful, hate filled DNC Dog & Pony Show? If there were one, Joey would have been flagged with his “lots of good people” lie.
COMMUNISM must restrict the flow of information.
*sniff* *sniff* smells like fear.
Funny... Two thumbs up!!
