Keeping up with local news and knowing the hot spots in your town go a long way toward staying out of trouble.

I have pointed out to the wife the areas where a flash mob may form and start stopping cars.

Avoiding those areas only take a couple of minutes more travel time anywhere in town.

Do not use Waze when driving through a city with some sketchy neighborhoods. Waze will take you on the streets with the least traffic. There is very little traffic on streets with lots of boarded up houses. Once there, you are not sure where to turn off into smaller, possibly worse side streets.
