Stealthy drones with AI are the future.
= = =

Maybe we should expose ourselves. Overpower them with real and false targets. Lots of bait.

Oh, and substitute Dems for our identities.

But they won’t go for Dems, AI is ‘Intelligence.’

China’s ability to steal our military technology is the biggest chink in our armor.

Heron, a small, female- and minority-owned company with offices in Maryland and Virginia, builds artificial intelligence agents, and is also a player in DARPA’s Gamebreaker effort to explore tactics for disrupting enemy strategies using real-world games as platforms.
The simulator kept distracting the human pilot by demanding he stop and ask for directions, and saying he has benefited from white privilege.

I think drones will one day make human pilots obsolete. We need to be working on that now.

I think you miss the point: the application is for military offensive combat applications - you know, air superiority, Close Air Support, interdiction, etc.

Medevacs and transport aviation will still carry people.

If a maneuvering unmanned fighter doesn't require a human on board, it can go to much higher G-limits and be more compact/more difficult to see/lower Radar Cross Section. The AI that is being developed is just the first stage. Imagine an "antiaircraft system" with more than a 1000 mile range, doesn't require human intervention, a very high probability of winning against enemy aircraft, doesn't require a line-of-site gun system, and best of all, it doesn't have to come back.

If we don't get ahead of this, our enemies will.

Imagine a craft shaped like a tic tac with no ovbviious means of lift or propulsion, yet which is able to hover or accelerate to unmatchable high speeds instanty and make 90 degree turns at the same time. That’s the technology we need to jump on, as I suspect we already have.

yah but its a lot easier to figure out how to disable an electronic AI system using technology than train pilots to the standards of the USAF/USN/USMC. It will or has already happened.

The fact that you heard anything about this means it was a dud or diversion.

Turn off the simulator.

Then see who defeats an F-16 pilot.

Stupid comparison. AI is still a bad joke.

It will never replace human intelligence.

Computer models of Covid19? Total waste of time.

Because AI may be learning its lessons based on wrong measures. An AI was taught to read satellite imagery to detect tanks. It did well on its training images, from Germany. In desert storm it was useless.

It learned to count leaves.

An all out attack on China the moment the 3-Gorges Dam breaks. Start wiping out the artificial islands in the South China Sea.

That’s because it was fielded before it was ready. It will happen, though - and you can bet the Chinese are burning the midnight oil to be ready ahead of us.

It’s hard to disagree with that and I don’t. Humans have this problem called Response Time. It is very fast, particularly so for fighter pilots but is not measured in nanoseconds. So, in the end, AI will win out. Nothing wrong using proxies to fight your battles.

You have more faith than I do. Do you rely on the 3 laws for that faith?

The 3 laws are fiction.

G-rating (8.5-9.0) times a factor of 1.4 to 1.5 for fighter aircraft, gives the typical non-yield limit to avoid airframe damage. An AI system could fly the envelope margin of 12.5 G to 13 G for a winning advantage against a human with a lower G-tolerance. The airframe will fatigue more quickly if such maneuvers become commonplace. The aircraft would need be redesigned to truly utilize an increased G advantage.

each contestant had perfect immediate knowlege of the oponent’s 6DoF trajectory. That never happens in real life. That the OODA into a bad ODA.
