“Faster....play faster....play faster....!!!”

Yes, I’m one of those who believe “Reefer Madness” told the raw inconvenient truth: Pot deranges, wounds, kills!

No. Libertatianism is not Libertinism.

One is “Anything goes”, the other is “I am free to do as I please without infringing others”. Big difference.

I've been there myself. I've been both a drunk and a pothead. Many times both at the same time. I've ruined many relationships because of both drugs and alcohol.

I'm not limiting what's going on today to pot use although I'm fairly certain that is the most predominant drug in play. If you've been clean for 30 years then I'm guessing you and I are close to the same age. I'll be 59 in a couple of months. The stuff you and I smoked is nowhere near to what what's available today. We called it grass because it basically was.

I'm not saying potheads and other drug users should spend their lives in jail but outright legalization is not good for society either. There HAS to be a middle ground.

Clearly, what's going on today is not what people in their right minds do. These kids are out of their minds and much of it has to be drug induced.

Evidently so, at least in application. Let you or me try it and off to jail we’ll go.

Point well taken. But are you able to "do as you please without infringing others" when you are out of your gourd? Do you think the people engaging in these riots are in their right mind?

Thanks. Seldom see worst stories here than my own.

Looters used to be DRT’d dead right there, shot on sight.

We need to return to this policy.

It stops repeat offenders.

Well, then we understand each other. If you found sobriety then I’m happy for you. My apologies for being... terse. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy marijuana’s effects.

But the obsession with it, like alcohol damn near killed me

and others. I just get annoyed with the perception or more over the hypocritical argument that marijuana is considered something beyond the pale and alcohol gets a free pass.

That’s not to say marijuana isn’t harmful in a number of way’s, it is. It’s just not harmful to the mind and body and society in the way alcohol is.

I’m 64.

The owners of the Quiznos arrived to clean up. The restaurant is owned by a family. The whole family is out here cleaning up the damage now. They’ve owned it for 12 years, never seen anything like this. “I don’t even know where to start,” he told me #9News

Here’s a secret. The Mayors are in on it. They’ve been assured by D.C. Dems that when Orange Man Bad gets evicted, they’ll get billions in federal funds to line their pockets and to keep those who are resisting on lockdown. That’s why none of these Dem Mayors are doing anything about the violence. This is truly unprecedented, that elected local officials have completely given a middle finger to taxpaying, law-abiding residents.

It seems to be the case.

I wonder if it has been recorded anywhere.

Lots of recording devices out there.

No apologies necessary. I was spoiling for an argument.

Full disclosure, I was sober from alcohol for 20 years but I began drinking again about 5 years ago and that ended up costing me my job and nearly my marriage so I know the devastation alcohol can wreak on a person.

I now have it under control. I can drink a few cans of beer or a few glasses of wine without getting totally blitzed. In fact, I've been enjoying a bottle of Pinot Noir tonight. I've had a pleasant buzz going on all night.

I have no doubt that both drugs and alcohol are fueling the riots that are going on today but it's just too damn coincidental that the mayhem began just a few short years after the whole drug legalization mindset became socially acceptable while Prohibition ended some 80 years ago.

Again, I'm not saying throw drug users behind bars and throw away the key but outright legality is not the answer.

“Clearly, what’s going on today is not what people in their right minds do. These kids are out of their minds and much of it has to be drug induced.”

Of course. All dopers in a drug stupor, sir.

It has nothing to do with the suited people in their “right minds” sitting in board rooms who outsourced American jobs to slaves while keeping wages stagnant for twice as long as these kids have been alive.

No sir. These kids should just suck it up and pull those bootstraps harder

Look at the drug laws and policies in those states. There’s your answer as to why. Marijuana and hallucinogens alter brains and thought patterns in the ways that we’re seeing. I’m referring to “we” as being those who don’t get high but have tried to communicate at length, up close and personally, with those who do.

I have no doubt that drug use is as prevalent in board rooms and political circles as it is on the streets of Portland, Seattle, Chicago and New York.

It just manifests itself in different ways. It dehumanizes whereever it is practiced.

I've been there. Drug use is the most selfish act one can engage in.

"I hope the "Decriminalize Drugs" crowd is happy with what they've wrought upon this country. Let the flaming begin. I'm ready for it, potheads."

I didn't read that good comment before posting comment #94. And yes, I know that it's late Saturday night (or technically, Sunday morning).

Those of us who've dealt with such people much have also become hardened to the denial, rationalizations, confirmation bias, paranoia, insults, projections, lies, threats, etc. The people are gone, in a sense, leaving the drugs to do the talking.

Amen, bro. I see it every day at the hospital I work at. Cops bring alcohol and drug addled people into our emergency room and try to reason with these people as to why they are under arrest and I just think to myself, “You idiot. They are incapable of understanding a word you are saying. Just let let the doctors and nurses do whatever you brought them in to do and let them spew their crap. They are out of of their gourds.”
