I hope someone in the WH is at least aware of the potential situation of two storms hitting in the same time frame.
This is expected when conventions are held during the active portion of hurricane season. The 2012 RNC convention in Tampa was interrupted by Hurricane Isaac. Jeb Bush did not attend the 2004 RNC in New York City while his brother was nominated for a 2nd term because of the FL parade hurricanes. There are other examples.
