There is a reason the RV industry is booming. Hotels and motels are dirty places. Government uses them to warehouse people. Many moderate priced, and even high priced motels are infested with bedbugs. Crime is an issue inside the buildings and outside in the parking lots.

Families and seniors are choosing to take their rooms with them on vacation. No need to use nasty rest area restrooms in transit to destinations. No need to eat unhealthy greasy food prepared by low paid workers with hepatitis when you bring your kitchen with you. No worries about who slept in the bed the night before. No concern about walking across a nasty carpet barefoot. No flying to the destination crammed in an aluminum tube with 150 possibly sick people. In the era of Covid people choose to manage their own environment when traveling.

A hike in the woods along a stream beats walking on pavement in an urban area encountering homeless and possible muggers. Fresh air, beautiful scenery and many nice people one encounters on an RV vacation in rural America.

The only bad thing is campgrounds in the popular state and national parks are getting very crowded. Governments aren’t spending money to expand and upgrade RV campsites. Many government operated park bureaucracies have been taken over by leftist environmentalist activists who hate RV’s. Private campground development is often obstructed by zoning, permitting, and land use regulation. However there are still many wonderful places to see and visit. It just takes a little planning and flexibility.
