Former first lady Michelle Obama, in a measured but searing address Monday to close out Democrats' opening convention night, accused President Trump's White House of operating in "chaos" and without "empathy" as she urged voters to cast their ballots for Joe Biden like their lives depend on it.
In prerecorded remarks, Obama stressed the “awesome power of the presidency,” while saying the job “requires clear-headed judgment, a mastery of complex and competing issues, a moral compass and an ability to listen.”
She added: “Whenever we look to this White House for some leadership or consultation or any semblance of steadiness, what we get instead is chaos, division and a total and utter lack of empathy.”

I try to be objective sometimes and step back from things, and ask myself, if I were an independent/swing voter, what would I think about this? In this speech, Mooch attempted to seize the moral high ground, claiming herself and her party and Joe Biden as the paragons of virtue and decency and goodness in contrast to Donald Trump who is evil incarnate. It was a weak speech because she overdid it. No fair-minded person thinks Donald Trump is Satan. No fair-minded people thinks that Democrats and “protesters” are all saints, when they can see with their own eyes the looting, rioting and vandalism. Yet that’s what Mooch was selling. If Mooch had aggressively condemned looting and rioting and antifa, the speech could have been a solid “B.” Since she did none of those things, she gave a speech only a true-believe partisan (e.g., the hacks in the mainstream media) could love. I’d give it a “D.”
