Jury selection is a bad idea. The judge should ask two questions. Do you know the plaintiff? The defendant? No? Get in the box.
Diversity and knowledge in the jury. Less wasted time of potential jurors. Too bad for the lawyers.
In the last jury selection I participated in, the defense picked a young girl who worked at McDonalds and obviously had the flu, or something, and could hardly stay awake. I was dismissed when the defense attorney confirmed that I was a retired engineer.
