I was hoping to get down to Ruidoso and hit the casino in the next couple of weeks but it looks like EVERYTHING is shutdown. That town will be toast by winter. No ski, no bars, no restaurants, NOTHING.

I was in Ruidoso on Friday... It was busier than I expected... maybe 1/2 to 3/4 of the normal Summer Friday crowd. Lots of Texas license plates, and even some Arizona and Colorado ones.

It looks like everyone is ignoring Governorlissima Lujan’s 14 day Quarantine orders for out-of-staters. I meant to check to see if there were cars in the race track and casino parking lot, but forgot. I know the Reservation casinos are closed... They even have roadblocks on all the reservation roads, other than Highway 70, and you are not allowed to get off the highway unless you are a Mescalero tribe member.

Walmart and the fast food driveup windows were doing booming business, and a few of the restaurants had awnings set up in the parking lots, and they were full of diners. (packed closer than they would be if they were allowed inside.)

That would be a shame. We spent a week in Ruidosa last summer and loved it. We did so much we needed to rest when we got home.
