I don’t know if they even need to get paid off to look the other way.
The police chiefs are being ordered by the Democrat politicians to stand down.
The Democrat politicians are looking the other way because they have put themselves in a political bind:
They have decided to politically weaponize the BLM movement against the Trump Administration. In order to do that, they needed to embrace the BLM riots as “legitimate protests against a racist system”.
If they were to crack down on the violence and destruction, or even criticize it, they would essentially be disarming their own political weapon. They would essentially be admitting Trump was right and they were wrong.
So they just let it happen, fan the flames, and try to blame it on the President.
But nobody is buying that it is the President’s fault, because it is obvious that stopping the violence is within the local government’s jurisdiction - not the President’s.
This is where President out-maneuvered them. By threatening to come into their cities and restore law and order, he boxed them in: They could either let him fix it - which would have been a big vindication and win for President Trump - or they could stop him.
They decided to stop him. But in order to stop him they had to claim jurisdiction. And when they claimed jurisdiction, they claimed responsibility, which means they can’t blame the President. A big win for Trump.
So they are letting their cities burn and have no way to stop it without giving Trump a win, which they refuse to do.
The Democrats literally got caught in their own trap.
Unfortunately, a lot of innocent people are suffering - hopefully they will figure out the Democrats threw them under the bus and will vote them out in November.
