Biden says Trump executive order is 'a reckless war on Social Security'
MSN ^ | Aug 8 2020 | J. Edward Moreno

Former Vice President Joe Biden on Saturday called President Trump's executive order to cut payroll taxes "a reckless war on Social Security."

One of the several orders Trump signed from his private club in Bedminster, N.J., Saturday afternoon directs the Treasury Department to allow employers to defer payment of employee-side Social Security payroll taxes through the end of the year for Americans making less than roughly $100,000 annually.

Trump also said that he intends to forgive the deferred payroll taxes and make permanent payroll tax cuts if he is reelected in November.

In an emailed statement addressing the president's order, Biden said that such a move would "undermine the entire financial footing of Social Security."

The presumptive Democratic nominee said that unlike the 2012 payroll tax plan put forth by the Obama administration, Trump's executive order does not appear to include "protections or guarantees that the Social Security Trust Fund will be made whole."

"He is laying out his roadmap to cutting Social Security," Biden said. "Our seniors and millions of Americans with disabilities are under enough stress without Trump putting their hard-earned Social Security benefits in doubt."

If you truly want Trump to win, stay the course. Don’t echo the Biden/Pelosi lies 90 days before the election.

Stand Strong!

That’s exactly what happens.

Same thing goes with the Highway “Trust Fund”. Gas taxes go right into general revenue and get “reallocated” at the pleasure of the bureaucrats.

Would this be the same Joe Biden whose administration cut the payroll tax by almost a third for a couple years during the last recession? Same guy?

Bah!

Wish someone would post a link explaining how Congress spends the SS payroll taxes and gives IOUs to be paid in the future.
Just too late for me to do it.

I assume such info will be available quickly.
From Trump’s people if no one else will provide it.

Joe’s a blatant liar. He has fabricated more stories than Mark Twain. And has supported Obama’s administration by backing policies that never should have happened.

Gov. Mike Huckabee (R-AR) stated that Congress should not be “talking about getting rid of Social Security and Medicare that was robbed $700 billion dollars to pay for Obamacare.”

Biden co-sponsored an amendment to freeze military and domestic spending for a year, in 1984, which included some built-in-adjustments for Social Security benefits — tantamount to cutting the program.

In the 1995 speech, Biden was more explicit: He bragged about advocating for cuts to Social Security.

“The record makes clear that as a senator, Biden used his clout to push for the law’s passage and to defeat amendments to shield service members, women, and children from its harsh treatment,” Adam Levitin, a bankruptcy law professor at Georgetown Law School, wrote in January
. “When votes were taken, ‘Middle-Class Joe’ was no friend to the middle class.”

He is like the child that lies to get attention. And then doesn’t remember the lie and has to start all over agaion with a new one.

You know what else is not a good idea?

Mothers and their bedragled children in food lines or unable to fee themselves or pay the electric bill

Worse: Facing eviction

Trump wins this and we do too

I have yet to see an honest review of SS. First of all. There us no trust fund. By law SS is invested in debt and the money goes into the general fund and is spent. Period. Currently, nearly 100 percent of our income tax goes durectly to pay for entitlements. The salaries for the functioning part of government is paid for with borrowed money.

You know what is good?

Someone taking home a few hundred bucks extra every month

Winning

Social security is already tapped and moving it up to 2031 and not 2032 is something the 2028 Congress was always going to have to deal with.

That’s BS

How is that an Ad for Libtards?

Seasoned citizens won’t see one dime cut from their bene’s until 2031 at best and even then those already on it likely won’t get a haircut but, those planing on using it will likely see expected bene’s cut.

No one is ever going to cut an old persons check.

That is a loser

Biden doesn't know if he wants gravy on his salad or salad dressing.

He probably has a Cochlear implant hidden up his butt so his handlers can tell him what to say next.

Tell your relatives this has nothing to do with them.

There isn’t going to be a Social Security reform where we put seniors back to work. They are done working

Those who are 50’ish around 2030 are going to have to make some decisions but, do look Paul Ryan throwing a wheelchair bound granny over the side of cliff soon...

BTW, old people aren’t stupid anyway.

They are taking this Covid thing best they can and not seeing friends, loved ones, children, grandchildren and consorting with each other...

They will see this as saving children and they will be on board.

Well I think it is better than adding an extra 3 trillion to the debt. Just my opinion. I actually believe if the democrats get elected they are going to get rid of Social Security again just my opinion.

It’s going to create a nice boom in the economy and create a lot of new jobs just before the elections.

I just wish there was another one-time payment of $1200 or so for those that aren’t lucky enough to be on UI now but can’t find a job either.

Unlike last time I think that should be means tested. 0-$10k or so. The truly unemployed typically don’t get a lot of breaks.
