During the 1968 Dem convention the Yippies led by Abbie Hoffman and Jerry Rubin brought a live pig from an Illinois farm. Named Pigasus they attempted to get his name registered on the ballots to be an alternative to the Dems’ Hubert Humphrey. The authorities cited the pig for disorderly conduct. The less qualified Dem won after days of bloody riots. Pigasus returned to the farm.
