***“This feature was designed to react when the doll was seated, but we recognize the placement of the sensor may be perceived as inappropriate,” Hasbro spokeswoman Julie Duffy said Wednesday afternoon in an email to The Providence Journal. “This was not intentional and we are happy to provide consumers with a replacement Poppy doll of similar value through our consumer care team. We are in the process of removing the item for purchase.”***

I don’t buy this explanation.

1. If it was designed as a feature on purpose, the package usually says something about that feature. The package does not mention that the doll makes sounds when seated.

2. You have to actively press the button to get it to make the squeals and other sounds. It doesn’t happen when it’s just sitting there.

Hasbro is lying through their teeth. I hope the agencies that look into pedophiles and grooming take a good look at Hasbro.

You are absolutely correct as to the actual intent by this manufacturer. Sales of Hasbro’s dolls are going to go through the roof now. Bad publicity is just as good as good publicity.
