A 19-year-old caregiver has been arrested after horrifying footage showed him slapping a frail 88-year-old man in the face and screaming 'how stupid are you' at his victim.
Graphic home surveillance footage shows the on-duty caregiver hitting the unidentified man, who requires full-time care of basic needs, several times in the face and violently dragging him out of his wheelchair while shouting abuse at him.
Deputies from Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said Delgado also hit his victim in the face, head and stomach multiple times.
The disturbing video released by HCSO begins with Delgado pulling the old man off the bed and sitting him down in a wheelchair before the caregiver casually slaps his victim hard across the face.
He then tells the 88-year-old to 'relax'.
'It's okay, it's okay. Relax,' he says.
Delgado then tries to pull the vulnerable man to his feet and slaps him again in the face.
The abuser appears to get more irate at this point and starts to yell abuse in the old man's face.
'You're a f**ing idiot! Like how stupid are you?' he screams, as he pulls his own headphones out.
Delgado then forcefully yanks the frail man from the wheelchair while slapping him again in the face and dragging him back toward the bed.
Authorities said Delgado then proceeded to abuse the victim, pushing him onto the bed and punching him in the stomach three times.
Delgado was arrested Wednesday night with the help of Pasco Sheriff's Office, just hours after the shocking incident took place.
Sheriff Chad Chronister branded his actions 'deplorable' and said he had broken the trust placed in him as a caregiver.
Delgado was charged with abuse of an elderly or disabled adult and battery.

First... Make him watch this on a loop with his elderly family members.
Did you see him put his hands up as soon as he put him in the wheelchair? This wasn’t the first time....or perhaps even the only one who’s abused him.
Today’s young folks have very limited respect or patience for each other let alone anyone in their care. It’s very risky putting teens in positions as caregivers.
“But I do for some reason have some compassion for this kid whos doing the abusing.”
Here’s hoping your next caregiver is this kid or someone like him. Maybe you can get back to us and report on how far your compassion extends...
I can only feel for the families who are forced to put their elderly members into these snake pits.
Thanks. Saved me the trouble. 😄
The family of the patient should make enough on the lawsuit to put this guy in a good facility.
How stupid can one individual be?
I have taken very specific training from several different agencies on what to do in these situations.
And the most interesting demonstration I took part in was just like this. The driver dropped down behind the engine block and floored the vehicle. Bullets from a pistol nor a rifle were able to penetrate the engine block and the persons holding the weapons would have been paste, especially in front of the grille of that truck.
Totally wrong thread!!!! Sorry, never thought this would happen to me. Moderator please remove my post.
If you were the one being slapped and punched with no chance at all of fighting back, I believe that would be horrifying.
“88” “That’s near mom’s age; except she’s tough as an oak and sharp as a tack.”
Mom will be 96 in a couple weeks. Also “tough as an oak and sharp as a tack”. Thank God she isn’t in a nursing home. It worked out that my brother and SIL and three kids were able to move in with her at the family farm. It was a win-win-win situation for everyone after my dad died. My SIL is an angel and takes great care of her.
Those facilities are out there. Most folks can not afford them. What pissed me off were the kids who structure their parents assets to make them eligible for Medicare/Medicaid funding. So they take their parents money, and mom and dad are in welfare nursing facilities.
While perfectly legal, its the most selfish act in the world. Its simply pure greed: your parents gave you life. They dont owe you an inheritance as well.
Would you say the same thing if he abused a 2 year old child? It’s the same thing...abuse of the helpless. The abuser knew what he was doing. You feeling “kinda” sorry for the “kid” is disturbing.
Most 19 year-olds in this country barely know how to care for themselves.
It was a crime in itself to put that young man in a care-giver position.
There are problems like this in regular hospitals too although the crazy/sadist caregivers usually hide out on the second and third shift.
I realize these positions are hard to fill but no youngins should be in caregiver roles. Let the decent, interested few (not this punk) earn their stripes as hospital volunteers as in the old days.
I dont feel sorry for that kid at all. First of all, hes not a kid, hes 18. Second of all, nothing but an animal would slap an 88-year-old person. Fu@k him... I hope he gets run over by a car later in the afternoon.
Ya think? Axe murderer is the only career path for him.
I guess this isn’t new video, because the tough guy isn’t wearing a mask. Clearly isn’t trained properly and should have help to move someone who can’t help themselves.
I would love to know what the family is doing.
Hope the kid has to live like this someday.
