I always kind of wonder in these cases how much is the parents doing, and the kid just goes along because they think that is what the parents want. The kid overhears the parents saying they wish they had a daughter so they put on a dress one day, they get lavished with praise and attention from mom and dad. So they go all in to get lavished with love and attention.
