That building next door is not a high rise building. It is not a steel frame high rise like most modern structures built in cities around the world.

It was/is a concrete grain silo. Look to be 8-10 stories high. This is a structure made of reinforced very thick concrete walls. Constructed to hold shiploads(thousands of tons)of grain.

See my previous post. There were many of these structures along the Great Lakes especially around Buffalo, NY. They were built prior to the construction of the Welland canal that went from Lake Erie to Lake Ontario.
