The US/UK and Western allies think supporting the Communist PKK is fine if it balkanizes Syria. You, IIRC, support a Rojava/Kurdistan recognized Country. I do not.

Assad is aligned with Iran, Hezbollah and Russia. They are not proponents of freedom for anyone.
I know the good and bad about Kurds. Some of the PKK are commies. Some of the YPG are lefties, some are not and are very good soldiers.
We can do this on another venue, not now.
