ONLY if they have to PROVE they are looking for a job.

Apparently the ones hurt most are the ‘underemployed’ and I do see a LOT of HELP WANTED signs at construction sites, landscapers etc

Just because you are a career ‘do you want fries with that’ doesn’t mean you can’t work in some sort of laborer job.

DEFINITELY drop those whose companies have ‘went back’ and they refuse to do so.

Of course it wouldn’t hurt if the companies supplied whoever with those that refuse to come back to work.

‘They’ are willing to turn one in for not wearing a mask etc, if you are going to be a ‘snitch’ make it so it save us from the frauds.

The PROBLEM is that some of us who are “not considered to be unemployed” (mostly contractors) are “furloughed”/”temporarily laid off” & while we await being “called back” are having a hard time paying our monthly bills AND nobody (not even a fast food place or contracting company) wants to hire someone who may well be gone in 21, , 3, 4 or 5 weeks.
(Fwiw, I’ve been told that I’ll be called back to the jobsite in 3 or 4 weeks. - In the meantime, I’m FLAT BROKE & even groceries are unaffordable.= 600.oo would fix things until then.)

Therefore, DJT is 100% CORRECT as it is NOBODY’S fault (except maybe the Chinese government’s, IF they actually knew how bad that the virus would get.) that we are “out of work” & all of us citizens cannot afford for the entire US economy to COLLAPSE.

Just my OPINION, TMN78247

ONLY if they have to PROVE they are looking for a job.

The way that is accomplished is by filling out job logs at an "American Job Center". Those are never, ever followed up on....can't be really. How are government employees supposed to call every Home Depot and WalMart and find out "did John Doe apply there"?

“ ONLY if they have to PROVE they are looking for a job.”

It’s a standard requirement to look for work. Usually you are require to keep a log listing several inquires per week. Also if you were employed and you have been called back you must return.

“Just because you are a career ‘do you want fries with that’ doesn’t mean you can’t work in some sort of laborer job.”

In my retirement from engineering I have been refurbishing houses to rent. “Laborer” is a skilled profession. Just “labor” is fine for mowing a lawn. But hanging a door, fixing a sink or even painting a house is skilled labor and requires some knowledge. (And, if you just scoffed at painting being skilled, what kind of surfaces can you NOT paint?}

Those people at construction sites who need laborers need people with skills. They have a cleanup crew who comes in and does the manual no-skill stuff. Someone who had only burger flipping skills would be hard pressed to work construction. Also, construction in Florida is grueling work. It will hit in the high nineties today with close to 100% humidity. You walk outside and start sweating.

Even ACE hardware requires a heck of a lot of knowledge about a lot of subjects just to help people find stuff.

Yes, you are right, there are lots of jobs out there. But they require a desire to work, tolerance for discomfort, intelligence, and a desire to learn. These aren’t qualities the typical student learns in school. (Although, students can tell you all about white privilege.)
