Kobach is a good conservative, but is too outspoken for the RINOs in this state. In 2018, he lost to a commie Dem in the gubernatorial race because too many Republicans stayed home or crossed over to vote commie.
Marshall is more palatable to squishy GOP'ers and will vote conservative at least 98% of the time. In addition, he is a strong Trump supporter. The Dems were hoping for a Kobach victory (they even pumped money into his candidacy), so they are disappointed. Marshall should cruise to a solid win in November, putting a dent in Schumer's hopes to win back the Senate.
I hope Kobach remains in public life because he has much to offer. This just wasn't his time.

too many Republicans stayed home or crossed over to vote commieWhich means they are fundamentally commies at heart. They dress up as Republicans mostly for aesthetic purposes, they enjoy the jokes we make at commies' expense, they crave our approval, they lust after our women, but at the end of the day they can't even contribute their votes for the cause. Who would count on these traitors when the stuff hits the fan? Useless buffoons. Let's sell them as slaves to the other side. If they stay in our camp they will likely spy against us.
