Great example of manipulating stats for dramatic effect.

Austin had about a 60% increase for sure but that still amounted to “only” about a 40 death increase while 2nd place Chicago had a 50% increase which brought their total to 440 deaths an increase of over 200 deaths so far this year.

Liars figure and figures lie.

The article had two charts side by side. One for percentage increase and the other for raw numbers. Plus he clearly stated this:

“While the raw numbers are terrible for Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, and other very large cities, it’s Austin, Texas, that’s leading by percentage-increase year over year!”

No attempt to deceive anybody.

One of the smaller cities nearby went from about 2 murders to 4 murders this year. So should they be in this mix with a 100% increase?

Never look at percentage increases in such screaming articles. It's the actual numbers that count.
