The first time Renee Ball received mystery seeds in the mail from China, it puzzled her. Then, a few weeks later, it happened again.
She had ordered some seeds online at her Churchill Falls home, but these didnt appear to be what she ordered, so she put off planting them.
I thought Id wait, not plant them, since there wasnt any clear address of where theyd come from other than China. I held on to them and never gave it a second thought until I got the second ones and thought that was weird. It wasnt what Id ordered, and the label said beads.'
Shortly after that, she ran across social media posts from a variety of agencies in the United States and Canada warning people about unsolicited mystery seeds sometimes labelled as jewellery and the potential dangers of planting them.
One of those agencies is the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), which issued a statement on July 28, which said unauthorized seeds could be the seeds of invasive plants, or carry plant pests, which can be harmful when introduced into Canada.
These species can invade agricultural and natural areas, causing serious damage to our plant resources, the statement read.
Ball said she never even considered planting the seeds she received, but knows some people might, which is concerning. She contacted the government about the packages she received but hadnt heard back at the time of this interview.
I dont know what to do with them, she said. I dont want to burn them, not knowing what they are, and I dont want to put them in the trash, [because] theyll make their way into the environment somehow.

“The Day Of the Triffids!”
The media treatment of the mysterious nature of the seeds is indeed... well.. mysterious. Ive seen a number of photos. Two varieties of sunflower, pumpkin, and these are cucumber.

½ cup (85 g) green grapes
½ (65 g) orange, peeled, halved
½ (90 g) apple, seeded, quartered

2 Tablespoons chia seeds (substitute mystery seeds)

2 Tablespoons almonds, sliced

Blend until smooth.

There was a similar article about these seeds yesterday on Fox News. In that article, the scientists had taken a look.
They found a lot of vegetable and flower seeds.

This may just be a trial run.
First shipment, send something harmless, something even attractive to look at.
Following shipments, send something genetically modified to destroy native plants here.
There are already fish like that.

I agree with your analysis. A successful distribution through the mail and it can be used to deliver biological or chemical weapons, human or plant viruses and diseases.
