If you were the deep state hell bent on an overthrow of the US, would you want to have to possibly fight against armed policemen and policewomen?
It only makes sense to get rid of them all now.

Only the revolutionaries, like the infamous Red Guard, that prop up the party are permitted to be armed. The police are seen as a part of the bourgeoisie and must be dismantled. Disarming the police is part of the socialist manual.
