Yes they do indeed.....1/3rd of one-third of the world's shipping passes through the area, over $3 trillion in trade each year, plus it contains lucrative fisheries, which are crucial for food security especially to satisfy the insatiable Chinese appetite for seafood. Then add in the oil and gas reserves believed to lie beneath its seabed. But the Chinese don't want to share with Japan and South Korea....Indeed they want full control and it ALL! China's actual behavior says what it wants. It wants, without question, to control the South China Sea.
