Not a theory. It is the number of atoms or molecules in a mole of an element or compound, isn’t it?

Today Avogadro’s number is conventionally defined, but it was originally intended to specify the number of molecules in an amount of a substance whose weight in grams was equal to its atomic mass number. Carbon was atomic number 6, mass number 12, other atoms mass numbers determined by their relationship to carbon.
