That would have been an option, for sure. But it would been like rolling dice. Maybe the vandalism stops. Maybe the apartment building burns.
Side story #2:
Another guy I know owned a bar in, shall we say, a diverse neighborhood. One night someone broke a basement window while trying to get in and burglarize the place. As with the other story, my friend knew who did it. It was a neighborhood kid. But he couldn’t prove it.
So the next day he went over to kid’s house, gun in hand. Not in his pocket, but in his hand. He talked to the parents, and there was no further problems.
My friend was a crazy, first-generation Serbian. Yeah, pretty crazy. If those parents had been just as crazy, I guess it would have been Gunfight at OK Corral time.
