Are you triggered by the fact that in 1957 the flu killed 116,000 Americans out of a population of 172 million at the time? Thats about the same as 232,000 today.
Triggered by it? No. I’m perfectly well aware there have been some diseases that have been worse than what we’re facing today. It’s one of many reasons I’ve been against lockdowns and shutdowns since the start. I would probably feel very differently if this were a more existential threat, like a weaponized smallpox on its way to killing half the country. SARS-CoV-2 is no smallpox.
I’m not triggered by factual information. I don’t start calling people names, cursing at them, accusing them of being trolls, or any of the other childish behavior I’ve seen when some other people are exposed to simple observable facts that don’t fit their personal narrative of reality. I actually appreciate correct information put in front of me, especially if it’s new and even moreso if it corrects something I’ve been wrong about.
