Or until enough people are vaccinated. Smallpox didn’t disappear for 3,500 years... until everyone was vaccinated against it. Now it’s gone. Polio? Pretty much gone after the vaccine came out. Measles? Mostly gone. Mumps? Nope. Pertussis? Nope.

That’s why President Trump invested billions of Federal dollars in the SARS-CoV-2 vaccine efforts by backing the 5 best candidates (out of over 200 candidates worldwide). He knew that was the real way to end this while minimizing the death toll. He knew that was ultimately how we get everyone back to work.

The problem with vaccinations is that you can’t vaccinate people for a billion possible diseases and have the body remember every one of them. At some point, when you vaccinate for new disease, the body has to forget about an older vaccination.
