Kudzu was originally brought in to feed cattle. It grows so fast that it should have been a gold mine. Turns out the cows wouldnt eat it. The Hiwatt system was a backup plan. It didnt work either, and now the South is covered with the stuff. My dad, an Army Colonel, called it mile a minute vine.
A buddy of mine and I used to ride our mountain bikes through a woodsy area that was covered in decades of kudzu growth. After a summer rain I swear you can hear kudzu growing. It makes a faint stretching sound. Weird to say the least.
