Again depends on the laser

Green lasers that the public can purchase would only give a burn to the fovea. This leads to perhaps a dark spot in the field of vision. This disappears as the brain adjusts to it. A hand held “green” laser has a rapid drop off in power over distance. Moreover the beam quality spreads and is not longer as dangerous with travel through the atmosphere

Get back to me in a month. Give the results of their fovea photos. Then we can discuss

A 250mw green laser is not a toy

The lasers used in Seattle were pretty close, guessing from the video’s, 30 yards.

Chart shows 367 ft. eye injury hazard.

Flash blindness over 1700 feet.

I don’t scoff at the risk.

It is a focus issue too.

“Green lasers that the public can purchase”

I’ve seen 533 nm hand helds that put out over 200 mW with a tight beam spread of .7 mrad.

I agree that permanent sight loss is rare. I do know people that see a permanent crescent shape in their visual field but they are otherwise OK.
