If no air came in from anywhere you wouldn’t be able to breathe. Masks are supposed to keep you from directly spreading droplets, not vapors.
Anyone without a fever, cough, or sniffles, should wear a mask and everyone else should be left the Hell alone. That relies too much on individual responsibility for the government machine to accept so, governments “do something” even if it makes things worse.
Freaking out over wearing masks or not wearing masks is nothing but another form of Social Justice or the flip side anti SJ stuff. A way for people to justify their tantrums.
Don’t like masks? Don’t wear one. You have the right to refuse to wear one and businesses have a right to refuse you service. Your rights are not superior to theirs. Seems to me people should be able to deal with that simple pair of facts without so much drama.

This simple video shows the common 3ply and cloth masks are utterly USELESS to stop virus transmission. Millions and millions of virus particles would escape with every breath from an infected person.
If I’m walking into one of my vendors or a store and they tell me I have to wear a mask I just tell them no thanks and go elsewhere.
It’ their facility, they get to make the rules, just like “no shoes, no shirt, no service”.
I doubt that even being directly in front of a person wearing a mask who coughed like that would make the likelihood of transmission decrease to the point of being “OK”.
I am 100% in agreement with your post, because that is my philosophy even though those are not rules of my making (mandating mask wearing)
I have stated nearly your entire post in one form or another. I am not irritated and upset if someone is or isn’t wearing a mask, I believe it should be a choice people can make for themselves.
What I take extreme umbrage with is the mandated use of a mask in public.
I had a dipstick Freeper who was a newbie give me derisive crap about this subject the other day because I unequivocally stated that the mandated wearing of masks is uncalled for, and that it seems to be an exercise of power by tyrants simply because they can exercise it.
As if they mandated that citizens have to put on the mask at five minutes to each hour, and hop around on their hands for five minutes. Almost for their entertainment. Of course, people would roundly ignore, and the tyrants setting the rules would regroup and say “Well, okay. We couldn’t get them to do that. How about if we mandate masks while people are having sex?”
That Freeper didn’t get the point. My point is, if this Chinese virus had a mortality rate of 35-50% like Bubonic Plague, you wouldn’t need to mandate masks or quarantines. Hell, people would be barricading their doors and taping windows. But it isn’t.
I am of the opinion that if Biden were to win the election in November, this stupid frenzy being stoked up would all go away the next day. People would still get sick and die from it in the numbers they are, but...it wouldn’t be the hysteria we see now.
