I have a different theory on that. Epstein, I assume, was Jewish. I think he did what he did, and Maxwell also, for Israel. I think they were both dedicated to the defense of Israel, at least to rationalize what they were doing, i.e. bringing in minors.
Sure, he was paid well, but it sure seems like they both had more money than you’d expect them to have from legitimate businesses.
They went after soft targets like Clinton and Andrew, who’s sexual addictions were well known.
In summary, I think they had clients who were private and rich and wanted some of the action, and they had clients that were of interest to the Israeli’s.
It’s possible also, that Epstein and Maxwell were private contractors, who sold their films and information to other foreign gov’ts maybe even our own.
that midght explain why he was killed.
One last thing. This idea, that is currently posted on FR, that Trump was also a frequenter to Epstein’s pads.
If this were true, no way in hell Epstein would be killed. He’d be alive right now.
No one as yet has posted anything to disprove what I’m saying here. I have no proof either, but it sure makes sense to me.

Obviously Epstein had an incredible deviate sexual compulsion. That’s undeniable. Totally screwed up. So that played in.
I just can’t believe he didn’t have self protection release switches going. The only explanation I have for that is the stupidity of ego. Otherwise the narrative falls apart.
I am certain Trump never participated. If he had he’d never have been president. They have thrown everything they have and mountains of lies at him. They have given it all they’ve got. He has no involvement.
