Trump baits a trap for Biden
American Thinker ^ | Andrea Widburg

Posted on 07/21/2020 9:31:14 AM PDT by RoosterRedux

The big news from President Trump’s weekend interview with Fox’s Chris Wallace is that Wallace challenged Trump’s contention that Biden has agreed to defund the police. (Trump is right; Wallace is wrong. Just saying.) What got some press, although not as much, is Trump’s claim that the standard cognitive test he took was “very hard.” Wallace smugly countered this assertion, as did every Democrat. Trump, of course, will have the last laugh because he’s forcing Biden to take the test.

During the interview with Wallace, Trump pushed hard about Biden’s mental competence (emphasis mine):

TRUMP: And you know why I won’t lose, because the country in the end, they’re not going to have a man who – who’s shot. He’s shot, he’s mentally shot. Let him come out of his basement, go around, I’ll make four or five speeches a day, I’ll be interviewed by you, I’ll be interviewed by the worst killers that hate my – my guts.

*snip*

To the uninitiated, Trump sounds moronic. To those who know how Trump works, he just threw down the gauntlet and Biden’s in big trouble. By saying the basic test is hard, and boasting about his outcome, Trump not only got Chris Wallace to say the test is easy, he got everyone else on the left to do the same:

*Snip*

The entire Trump campaign is now perfectly positioned to say, “Okay, let Biden prove he isn’t mentally incompetent. Let him prove he’s smarter than Trump. Every single Democrat is insisting the test is easy. Therefore, Biden should ‘ace’ it, just as Trump -- who said it was ‘hard’ -- aced it.”

Trump did take the test, that was the point of the challenge. You should work on your reading comprehension.

Tit for tat. Or check and mate as the case may be.

“Wallace is a smug little prig sorely in need of a butt kicking.”

He came out today saying that at least Pres. Trump held an interview but Biden has refused to do one with him.

Trying to soothe the beasts, Chris?

“So mocking dementia and using it for political purposes is a winning strategy? Really?”

That psychiatrist in Boston, Dr. Lee opened the door about this with Trump. Trump is just holding the Left to the same standard. I think that is one of Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals.

Oh my god! Trump is now playing 5-D or even 6-D chess!

Or maybe, just maybe, Trump just has commonsense, says things that people with commonsense would say, and it comes out as super-duper-double-secret-strategery because there are so few people in the media or the Democrat party capable of mere commonsense.

“Trying to soothe the beasts, Chris?”

Not a chance. Wallace couldn’t care what knuckle dragging conservatives think of him. He’s merely trying to goad slow Joe’s camp into allowing him to score a slobbering softball interview with the groper.

FNC is owned by liberals, Wallace is secure where he is. And the ownership of FNC has done nothing to assist Tucker Carlson. I won’t forgive them for that.

Fair enough. I still don’t think it’s relevant. If the IRS hasn’t found anything, it’s just MSM fodder for misrepresentation and lies. 99.9999% of leftists (and you) wouldn’t understand a damn thing about his taxes beyond their own 1040EZ and EITC.

it is different. In the personal case it's relevant to whether one should become President, but in the general case doesn't affect whether one thinks they are a valuable human being. Context.

I was kind of hoping we were better than them.

We are but at some point we are going to have to kick them in the face and we had better be prepared to do it with conviction.

I still don’t think it’s relevant.

Relevant is a matter of opinion, but the important thing is it is not required. Finances, health information, none of that information is required for a candidate for president. Biden is not required to take a congnitive assessment and neither is Trump. Trump is not required to release his tax returns just because Biden did. If people want to make a big deal of doing either or not doing either then let them.

If you can’t see the difference between a cognitive assessment and tax returns, you are a lost cause.

Doesn’t bother me a dam bit. Father had it, sister in law has it. Trump calling bidamn out on it doesn’t affect me (or my family) in any way. You don’t speak for us.

” Why does Biden need to prove anything? “

because he’s slipping on his own saliva :)

It's certainly fair game for Biden to respond to a tit-for-tat by asking to see his tax returns. Whether he "gets" to see them is another matter.

As someone upthread said, politics ain't beanbag. Biden can ask Trump if he's still grabbing pussy if he wants to. We aren't bound by the Marquess of Queensberry Rules.
