Cloth masks and surgical masks do not provide respiratory protection against virusii. They do provide protection against bacterial infection, which are larger than virusii by an order of magnitude. The weave is not tight enough to stop a virus. While on its face the argument that cloth masks stop water droplets that could carry the virus is true, it neglects to take in to account that if a virus is airborne (like the China Virus), it is not being carried aloft by water droplets. Even if they did work, only a small percentage of people wearing them are doing it properly. They have their nose hanging over the top, they remove it to talk to people, they stick their fingers in to them, etc. Now if you want to talk about an N-95 mask, or better, that's a different story. The chances of seeing someone actually wearing an N-95 mask in public is about as rare as finding a pro-life Dem or a unicorn.
Here's what I find interesting. Up until 2 weeks ago (the last time I checked), both the OSHA website and a downloadable PDF on the CDC website stated that cloth masks do not provide respiratory protection against virusii. That was the information that was publicly accessible months ago when you could extrapolate a mortality rate from 5% anywhere up about 10%. Now that the national mortality rate is down around .03-.05% the OSHA website has been changed to add the water droplet argument. I haven't checked the CDC PDF; I'd venture to guess it was recently changed, as well. Makes me wonder why at a time after the curve was flattened and the virus has been proven to not be anywhere as dangerous to a majority of the public it was changed. I'd venture to say is that is was changed to maintain the narrative and to get people to willingly submit to the government edicts that are continuing to harm the US economy and people.
Every virus particle emitted from the human body starts out as a water (actually saline) drop. This is the point where the efficiency of masks (even cloth) is at a maximum.
As the saline drops travel, water begins to evaporate..BUT all the accompanying salt and organics do not, so any particle is NEVER a bare virus. It is ALWAYS embedded in a solid particle whose size is much larger than a bare virus.
Masks are LESS effective for those particles, but not totally ineffective.
Anybody who quotes the size of a virus particle as "the reason masks don't work" is simply propagandizing.
Don’t write about how small the virus is. That is the misinformation I do not want here. You know very well that the virus is only transported out of the infected respiratory system through water droplets. Such droplets can’t go through the fiber structures and the electrostatic attraction in masks.
President Trump at his coronavirus press conference, today:
"By understanding these risk profiles and learning how to treat the disease, weve been able to greatly reduce mortality in the United States. In fact, well show you a chart and how well we do compared to the rest of the world. We have several treatments already available that significantly reduce the severity and duration of the disease, including remdesivir, which has been very successful and a widely available steroid treatment. And we have many more happening and coming out."
"Weve learned best practices for treatment of the virus at every stage and have shared these findings with medical providers, and weve shared them all over the world. The relationship with other countries has been very strong. Were all working together. This includes ensuring all hospitals are aware of the importance of different approaches to oxygen treatment, including high-flow oxygen, the importance of steroid treatment for those on ventilators."
The curve went down and then went back up. How do you explain the increase?
