Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R) on Monday warned against the idea of the White House sidelining Anthony Fauci, the nation’s top infectious diseases expert, saying Fauci had been more responsive to the state’s coronavirus needs than President Trump or Vice President Pence.

Hogan wrote in a

USA Today op-ed that in March, as the Washington D.C./Maryland/Virginia area showed signs of being a hot spot, he was unable to get a call back from the president and vice president, but was able to get in contact with a number of top health officials to get advice.

“But I spent the first weekend of April on the phone with all the other people who needed to hear about this: Dr. Fauci, Dr. Francis Collins, director of the National Institutes of Health; Assistant Health Secretary Adm. Brett Giroir; Defense Secretary Mark Esper, and Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy,” he wrote.

Fauci, Hogan wrote, promised to raise the issue with the White House coronavirus task force. “And Dr. Fauci never let me or the people of Maryland down,” Hogan wrote. “I shudder to think where our country would be today without him.”

"I will NEVER vote for a “Larry Hogan” Republican again."

Unfortunately "Larry Hogan" Republican types seen to be
the only type of Republican candidates that conservative
Maryland Republicans get to vote for. But that type of
Republican is far better then the Marxist, totalitarian
Democrat type that is the alternative. Unfortunately,
Larry Hogan has an Democrat dominated state legislature
that he has to contend with. Not to mention the city of
Baltimore.

I. A life-long native MDer. Central, no less. Liberalland.

What is it we need from Trump or anyone?

I don’t want masks, or stickers telling me where to stand, or shut-down doctors and hospitals because Fauci told them all it’s so dangerous and we can’t treat people with anything but COVID.

As a person suffering other conditions and trying to support a grieving depressed, Despondent mother who may also have other medical problems, I’m angry at the conundrums I’m thrown into every week about whether I should even bother calling doctors, or should we dare go to the ER?

Stop treating it like the Black Plague. It’s not. But it might make OTHER diseases worse down the road. Massive increase in cancer deaths next year? Thanks, Chicken Littles.

Agreed. And frankly, I never agree with refusing to vote for the “R”. What choice do we have at general time?

I wish the primary options were better, or at least that people would vote for the more conservative.

But the flaw with our system is that we’re made to choose between 2 “party” people.
