Cruz thought he was too, but it was much too close for comfort in 2018. TX liberals are coming out of the woodwork in force.

It was not an ordinary Texas Senate race. Democrats and Hollywood poured millions into Beto's campaign. So much so, that they felt the pinch in other races they were funding.

Also Cruz’s behavior in the 2016 GOP primary and at the GOP convention alienated a lot of Republican voters. I think those fences are mended, though. But I’m not sure.
