They will never give up their fat checks, their OT and their pensions. If they won’t follow their basic policies and report other officers when those officers violate policy or even violate the law—what makes you think they will actually do something noble?

Exactly! Absolutely agree.
I have lost count of all the people who feel that just because they exchange a few pleasantries with officers waiting for coffee at the cafe downtown, those same officers will "have their back" or something. Good grief, sheesh.
Good luck engaging with that buzzcut, steroided, us v. them, 26 y.o. officer when he or she is told to stomp on you...or lose that same paycheck, overtime, and pension benefits. Plan now to have top-drawer legal representation, for sure.
