Security guard at a supermarket? Never seen such a thing. Glad I live in a small town.
It's pretty common in California, in bad neighborhoods.
lots of stores have security guards here in So Cal.
Ive seen them late night at the supermarkets in the sketchy parts of town. Theyre usually the stores last step before closing and making the neighborhood a food desert.
I used to live in a small town in New Jersey. (I was new there, grew up in Midwest suburbia).
The town in New Jersey had a section in the local paper about the various crimes. I cut one of them out and carried it in my wallet for years. Went something like this:
August 2, 1986. Officer Hank Meyers responded to a 911 call from the A&P [grocery store] Monday late afternoon after a disturbance erupted over a shopper having too many items in the “Under 12 items” checkout counter. No arrests were made.
