They are not “Vandals” they are protesters and they didn’t destroy it, the “Altered” it.

I would take it one step farther. This is an exceptional example of post-post-modern performance art, where the conflict and paradox created by the paint becomes part of the performance.

Taking it a step further, Wilhelm immediately sent his city workers to "repair" the "mural." It's now back to it's original form. This is getting exciting. I can't wait to see what happens next.
