As of this week, President Trump has now set over a half million cubic yards of concrete to fortify our Southern Border.
Keeping America Great!
Yet another promise he IS keeping. Best president yet for keeping campaign promises. If he does not need congress to keep a promise, and the courts stay out of his way, he’ll keep more!
Thanks for the update!
The sooner the better! Build baby build!
Thanks for posting. Construction rate seems to be accelerating.
The long-dead Russian and East German Soviets must be spinning in their graves in jealousy at the advantages of control and stability that the U.S. Soviet will have from this wall...
The key indicator for the futures of all those deplorables is when, next March, the permitted time for abortion is extended by one-thousand months... Fortunately, I'll be 4-years outside the limit and standing at the bridge...
March, the permitted time for abortion is extended by one-thousand months
````
Actually abortion under the Biden/Xi presidency will be extended by presidential decree to 90 years thus allowing rapid execution of undesirables.
Dang! You busted my bubble of optimism by changing my prediction from age 83 to age 90... Now I'll be screwed a 87...
Guess the best I can do, sometime before November, is leave a note of encouragement somewhere on the bridge for whoever is left to show up...
Could someone provide some info?
I read a few days ago that Trump was angry at the company doing the wall funded with private money, I assume it is Fisher.
What is the problem there? I thought they were using better materials/more concrete than the government jobs.
I am sorry I made a search and could not find the thread were I saw the headline..
Texas Tribune did a report last week on this. Erosion under the Wall in S Tx. Three miles built by Fisher 10 meters from Rio Grande River. I think damage can be repaired. I hope...
Thanks for the lead. I thought it was a FR post.
here is a link I found.
I hope they resolve it, and fix it. I was a source of pride and hope when Fisher did their first section of the wall going uphill.
Funny thing is when I explain my position no one ever challenges it or says "Good idea" on their side or ours. they simply move onto the next red herring "What about Chinese students being made to go home because of Trump's new policy" Didn't get into to the current policy being wholly unAmerican and completely immoral and amoral. I simply said "Don't care. They are not Americans and not entitled to anything in America"
"But, they are human" came the response
"And American Children are not less human but, ought to be entitled to more rights and priveleges than non citizen" came my reply Anyway, I would upended the stupid canard about no fence being built by pointing to the following environmental groups who are doing everything in their power to end construction and showing where "Existing and New Construction has destroyed habitat" I like doing that because it's a bit harder to argue against your side and a particular group that has their vested interest in ending the travesty.
To wit Indigenous peoples seem pretty hacked off about new wall going up https://indiancountrytoday.com/news/trump-s-border-wall-construction-threatens-sacred-lands-of-carrizo-camecrudo-0pfuFhxKRkuFJ3kzJgevVA
Heavy equipment intended for the construction of a 25-mile section of the wall through South Texas arrived on Sunday and was being offloaded Monday along a levee bordering the Rio Grande River. In response, the tribe and its allies staged a march Monday from a location near the town of Mission to the National Butterfly Center, a 100-acre wildlife refuge that’s also being threatened by the immanent construction of the wall.
If you go to this page, kinda looks like there is a new wall going up and "The Intercept" is sure not on our side(Photos)
TRUMP IS BLOWING UP A NATIONAL MONUMENT IN ARIZONA TO MAKE WAY FOR THE BORDER WALL
https://theintercept.com/2020/02/06/border-wall-construction-organ-pipe/?comments=1
CONTRACTORS WORKING FOR the Trump administration are blowing apart a mountain on protected lands in southern Arizona to make way for the president’s border wall.
The blasting is happening on the Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument Don't forget to scroll through the article and look at: Magnified view of Monument Hill, in Organ Pipe National Monument, where border wall construction crews began using explosives this week WITH THE REALITIES of border wall expansion in southern Arizona coming into grim focus over the past few months, advocates on the ground have worried that construction on Organ Pipe might involve explosives.(But no new construction happening) The entire episode is deeply political, Grijalva said, with the Trump administration clearly bent on completing as many new miles of wall construction as possible ahead of the 2020 election. “What’s particularly frightening right now is that Trump has weaponized DHS, politically weaponized them,” Grijalva explained. “And so right now, it’s about satisfying that political agenda.”
From National Geographic:
Border wall construction expands, despite pandemic, imperiling jaguars and other animals
With the world focused on coronavirus, the federal government paves way for 175 miles of new walls along U.S.-Mexico border, through prime wildlife corridors. They are opposed to 175 of New walls?(Need an account to read but, whatever. The headline speaks volumes)
I guess their chief complaint is that a vehicle barrier is being replaced or augmented with a 30 foot bollard wall. That is new fencing to me, as it reduces the ability to cross the border
This guy really hates the wall:
New Drone Footage Shows Damage From Trump’s Wall in Remote Arizona Wildlands Construction Rips Through Wildlife Refuge Along Historic Devil’s Highway author: Laiken Jordahl
The wall is being built through the Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge, home to the endangered Sonoran pronghorn, and the rugged Tinajas Altas Mountains in the Barry M. Goldwater Bombing Range east of Yuma, Arizona. The 30-foot-tall, bollard-style barriers will block wildlife migration, damage ecosystems, and destroy natural history and Native American sacred sites.
“Trump is bulldozing the borderlands’ most beautiful, rugged landscapes for nothing but a twisted campaign promise,” said Laiken Jordahl, a borderlands campaigner at the Center. “Walling off these protected wildlands will kill wildlife, obliterate sacred sites and rip a hideous scar through the heart of the world’s most biodiverse desert.
We’ll continue to fight Trump’s despicable border wall every step of the way, and we won’t stop until it’s torn down.”
Looks very much like Green Construction if you scroll through Jordan's page https://biologicaldiversity.org/w/news/press-releases/new-drone-footage-shows-damage-from-trumps-wall-in-remote-arizona-wildlands-2020-04-28/
He does a real nice job documenting on a drone the fence being built here: https://www.biologicaldiversity.org/resourcespace/pages/search.php?search=%21collection1202&k=92ef6f7763
Anyway, looks like mile after mile after hundreds of miles are being built
“I read a few days ago that Trump was angry at the company doing the wall funded with private money, I assume it is Fisher. What is the problem there?”
This is a pretty new development (President Trump tweeting criticism of the private wall built in South Texas). We will probably find out more later, but my guess is that the President is distancing himself from the effort, because he knows that a political attack is coming, related to it somehow, and he is getting out in front of it.
There is some erosion on the riverbank, which might be a small maintenance issue - but it might be a inherent design flaw that is coming to light.
There is also a court case between Fisher and the IWBC (who supervise the Treaty with Mexico over control of the Rio Grande’s water), where Fisher’s design was found to exceed the allowable amount of flood water deflection (10%, rather than 5%). They still need to modify something (They have initially proposed installing a gate in the fence, at the one point where models indicate it might be needed). Maybe that is turning out to be a more substantial design problem.
Fisher has received a couple of large contracts for the border wall, and Democrats have attacked those awards, and requested that they be reviewed/investigated for potential impropriety - so maybe the President needs to distance over that potential allegation/smear line of attack (however baseless).
Democratic/Leftist operatives may have targeted/set up some folks associated with that project, specifically to create an election time attack on the President. He may have received indications of something like that underway, and is moving to neutralize it.
It will likely become clear over time, but for now, I’m just guessing. It was surprising to me, when I heard President Trump criticize the effort, but I suspect he has some inside info, that is driving it.
Time will tell.
fwiw, foxnews tv reported yesterday that trump announced sometime yesterday (7/12/2020) that 240 miles had been completed.
There is fraudulent Leftist front group, that tries to present itself as the voice of local indigenous people along the Rio Grande Valley Sector, where new Border Wall is contracted for construction - the so-called "Carrizo/Comecrudo tribe", which has neither a reservation nor official recognition.
There was a group called Carrizo or Comecrudo noted in the area centuries ago, but there is no continuous presence or culture. Just a few re-fried Occupy Wall Street type white folks from out of State, who resurrected the name to pose in the press, and maybe get a delaying law suit filed. They got a few local Latino lefties to come out for the occasional photo op, because they can pass as Indians better, and try to get other Left-wing Indians from around the country to contribute to their propaganda effort.
In the article you linked, they got a couple of Left-Wing members of a Sioux tribe from 1,500 miles a way to pose for a few pictures.
Their "events" are typically just a few folks, or a few dozen at most. Complete "Potemkin Village" frauds.
If 240 miles are not complete today, it will be before the end of the week.
A nice round ballpark figure.
