Pro slavery? My ancestors fought for the Confederacy because the Yankees were confiscating their property and destroying their homes and livestock. None of the Confederates in my heritage owned slaves. The slaveowning GGGF joined the Union Army in Tennessee because his family had fought for Independence and were believers in the Union. History is not clear nor precise and the war for many wasn't over slavery.
