Washington’s NFL franchise has announced that it is retiring the Redskins name, and plans to introduce a new name soon.
Monday’s announcement comes just days after the organization released a statement July 3 saying it would be undertaking a “thorough review” of the team’s name, a process the team said in Monday’s announcement has “begun in earnest.” In an interview July 4, Coach Ron Rivera — who is working with owner Daniel Snyder to choose a name — said he hoped the new name would be in place by the start of the 2020 NFL season. Others have said it will be revealed as soon as within two weeks.

Are they changing the logo too, or just the name?
You have to actively use a trademark in commerce to retain it.
You can’t just trademark a name and sit on it.
I don’t know the time period, but this guy will have to field a team using the trademark to keep it.
I think Red Tails (as in red tailed hawk) is the leader for that reason.
Allows them to keep the current logo with the feathers, they just need to replace the face (with a hawk or big R like they used to have).
No just everything racist. The problem is everything is racist.
I was thinking the NFL was starting to put the Kappernick stuff behind them, but now it looks like they have put a couple of more holes in the boat.
Redskin season tickets are about $3,000 for two seats in the lower levels. That doesn’t include food, beer, parking, etc...
There’s a lot you can do with 3 grand a year.
I spent a week in New Orleans at Mardi Gras this year. The cost for me & my spouse was less than $3k.
You gotta eliminate the word ‘Washington’ because he was a slave owner. So I offer this:

But nameless is also anonymous.
How about the “Washington Anons?”
Went to school in DC in the early 70’s and loved the ‘red head’ Sonny Jurgenson and the games against Dallas.
So a name that 90 percent of Native Americans don’t find offensive, about which the most commonly expressed feeling is pride, with a logo designed by a Native American, has to go because the #woke mob is offended on behalf of these poor, suffering people who apparently aren’t bright enough to be offended on their own?
THAT, my friends, is white privilege.
