KOMO reported that the plaintiffs behind the petition would have to collect 50,000 signatures before an election can be held.
50,000 petition signers is not the majority of voters in the city. A petition doesn't require the majority of voters to sign it, and oftentimes, it can be signed by non-voters. A petition does not reflect the feelings of the majority of voters. For all we know, the majority of voters or residents, might be against the petition.
