War horses in the middles ages were
taught to bite, kick, and stomp in combat.
That being said, the first thing I was taught about horses was to never approach one from the rear.
Dean Martin link to Aint That a Kick in the Head....
Thank you my FRiend.
Dean said onstage “You know I only drink to forget.”
Frank: “What are you trying to forget?”
Dean: “Don’t know. Forgot a long time ago.”
Wikipedia (who else?) said in part...In the 1936 movie version, alternative lyrics in the second verse were provided to replace a reference to the drug cocaine, which was not allowed by Hollywood’s Production Code of 1934.
The original verse goes as follows:
Some get a kick from cocaine
I’m sure that if
I took even one sniff
That would bore me terrifically, too
Yet, I get a kick out of you
Porter changed the first line to:
Some like the perfume in Spain
Sinatra recorded both pre-Code and post-Code versions (with and without the cocaine reference): the first in 1953[2] and the second in 1962.
Police horses probably weigh around 1200 pounds.
Pretty stupid of this woman. Hope she is prosecuted for attacking a ‘police agent”. Horse should have the same protection from attack that police dog does.
Lippizan horses are still taught to do those moves.
obviously a speciesist horse...
The left has been calling for the mass euthanasia of K9s, lately.
My father raised Belgian horses. I always wanted him to get one of them trained as a war horse. It would have been great in a Society for Creative Anachronism melee.
I mean, goddammit, anyone with an ounce or experience knows you dont sneak up on a horse from the rear.
That’s horse 101. Never surprise a horse and always let them know where you are.
Slaughterhouse Five.
It’s not but the name fits.
Old news, worth another look.
Thank you! Julie
Now my reading list has grown by two more books.
Gonna have to cut way down on my rigorous program of t.v. watching! LOL!
“...she will never forget.”
Yeah, I probably wouldn’t forget getting kicked by a horse either!
Reminds me; I really want to go horseback riding again. It is one of the most fun, thrilling xperiences in life, especially when the horse can run.
She’s lucky she wasn’t hurt worse than she was!
Horses can be deadly. A well placed kick can kill. A very good friend of ours was kicked by her horse Friday afternoon. She has a compound fracture just below the knee. Her leg was almost kicked off. She had to be life flighted and it is unknown at this time if she will lose her leg. The protester is lucky she still has a head.
She was lucky. If the horse wanted to, she’d have brain damage or worse for the rest of her life.
