An analysis of data released by the Florida Department of Health appears to indicate that coronavirus case numbers have been inflated as much as 30 percent by Florida health officials.
Deaths linked to COVID-19 have remained flat in Florida despite the spike in cases. While that may be partially explained by the fact that younger people are the ones largely being exposed to the virus in recent weeks, it is also possible that backlogged cases are being added and treated as new cases when, in fact, they are not.
Analysis by Just the News suggests that discrepancies between the “case date” and the “event date” of positive coronavirus cases in Florida likely meant cases in early to mid-June were undercounted and later attributed to late June and early July upon being entered into the system.
Is this happening in other states as well? The phenomenon of backlogged cases distorting data isn’t new or unique to Florida. In Michigan, a spike in deaths in April and a spike in cases in May were attributed to backlogged date being added to official tallies. In Virginia, a backlog of negative coronavirus test results went unreported by the state Department of Health in favor of positive test results. South Carolina experienced similar backlog problems in reporting of coronavirus deaths. The Texas health department revealed this week that 90 percent of its coronavirus infection data lacks the date indicating the onset of symptoms. Los Angeles County similarly posted a record number of coronavirus cases this week that included “a few thousand” backlogged cases.
The current spike in cases comes at a time when many states are implementing phased re-openings. Whether there’s a connection to the nationwide spike in cases to backlogged data hasn’t been confirmed yet.

Is anybody even aksing these questions? Besides me, I mean.
Yesterday according to DOH there were 15,000 positives but 121,000 tests which is the an flexible biggest daily report of tests. The positivity rate was under 12% for the first time in weeks.
We are on the down slide as ER visits are decreasing as are admissions.
Sounds like a DNC Cuomo plot.
I got my first covid test yesterday. It was negative..not too bad. The line of cars was about 15 or so. All they did to me was jam a swab all the way into both sinuses, so it was uncomfortable for a couple of seconds and then was ok. It is not difficult. I had to be tested for an upcoming test. SOP is to test for Covid. If negative, the procedure will proceed. If positive, you have to go to your PCP or hospital for another test and clearance.
RE: I got my first covid test yesterday. It was negative..not too bad.
The only problem with that is the test is only good for THAT POINT IN TIME.
Trump and Pence themselves admit that they have to be re-tested regularly to make sure that are not infected.
Brazil’s President Bolsonaro was tested NEGATIVE before ( after he visited the USA ). Now, he’s tested positive.
95%+ of the patients require no treatment as it is a mild disease. Hell about 3/5 dont even know they had it! As for treatment of outpatient I am not sure what is going on. Our large multidisciplinary group just added HCQ AZI and ZN to the symptomatic outpatients. If in hospital remdesivir snd decadron and id IcU high dose decadron, prone ventilation and ARDSnet vent parameters.
But what is important and no one wants to listen to is that the vast majority of patients require no treatment and get over it relatively quickly.
However, this new daily record comes with an important caveat: A massive increase in tests was reported yesterday, with 143,000 being run, roughly double the 7-day total from earlier this month.
The positivity rate fell to 13.6%.
My point exactly. Lame-est plague ever. It stinks that even Faux News and NewsMax are in on the ruse.
Go to COVID-19.healthdata.org and you can see for yourselves. Until the Internets ban the site.
Not just Fla, this BS is nationwide.
Nurse told him they get so many false positives that patients are being forced into extended stays needlessly. In your opinion, is the test that unreliable? How much might this be contributing to the increased positive cases and high rate of positivity?
We don’t really know. There is apparently no standard definition and standard way of counting/reporting. Plus there are apparent benefits to having more cases.
One interesting data point is worldometer’s figure for cases that are considered serious or critical in the USA.
Right now, that number is under 16K for the entire country.
In PA the officials (Wolf etc) are falsely reporting the data for deaths....(little bird in family has access to the real data).... Spoke with him last night....said there’s a substantial drop in cases of death. So it’s pretty easy too assume they’re certainly ‘fixing’ the number of cases data.
Sounds like you read and apparently believe TCPalm. Theyve been fear no getting and scaring the populace since day one.
